CBD 101
Beginner's Guide to CBD
CBD (cannabidiol) is a natural compound present in the flowers & leaves of the hemp plant. CBD is among 113 powerful cannabinoids found in hemp, and known for aiding the body and mind in numerous ways.
Benefits of CBD
CBD is commonly used to address anxiety, and for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep.
CBD may offer an option for treating different types of chronic pain. A study from the European Journal of Pain showed, using an animal model, CBD applied on the skin could help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis. Another study demonstrated the mechanism by which CBD inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat.

CBD For Seizures
CBD has been touted for a wide variety of health issues, but the strongest scientific evidence is for its effectiveness in treating some of the cruelest childhood epilepsy syndromes, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which typically don’t respond to antiseizure medications. In numerous studies, CBD was able to reduce the number of seizures, and in some cases it was able to stop them altogether.
Overall Health Benefits of CBD Oils
Although it comes from hemp or cannabis plants, CBD doesn’t create a “high” effect or any form of intoxication. There is growing awareness about the possible health benefits of CBD oil. Some of the potential medical uses of CBD are for anxiety relief, anti-seizure, neuroprotective disorders, pain relief, anti-acne, and cancer treatment. Depending on the therapeutic needs, different CBD products may prove more beneficial than others.

Ways to Consume CBD
There are many ways ingest CBD. Placing the oil under your tongue, also called sublingual, is one of the fastest ways to absorb CBD. Edibles such as gummies, capsules, or other edible products, are a convenient way to ingest CBD. Edibles offer slower absorption but are good for those who do not like the taste of CBD oil.
